Every morning when I see the excited, smiling faces of 90 Peninsula Bridge students getting off the bus, I gain a new sense of enthusiasm and energy for the day. My name is Maya C. and this is my second summer being a TA for Peninsula Bridge. The feeling that today's going to be a good day is an ongoing occurrence that I credit to the students. The students are absolutely incredible, from their fun jokes to their academic achievements to their bubbling excitement, Peninsula Bridge students always make my day.
This experience is especially special to me because I was once a Peninsula Bridge student. I remember absolutely adoring my teachers and TA's, and today I am still excited when I run in to them on campus or around town. The bond that is created in such a short period of time during the summer program is really unique and long lasting. I remember last summer my birthday happened to start off the last week of the program and one student actually remembered my birthday over the weekend and brought me a stuffed animal. This was a student who I had not worked with in the classroom but got to know during lunch playing Mancala and making lanyards. Although this was just a small and simple gesture, it really highlighted the bond that exists between the TA's and students. Everyday is an adventure at Peninsula Bridge for both the TA's and the students, and I absolutely love it !
